Mini Pavilion E

This compelling short film portrays the history and daily life of "Mini-Pavilion E"—a unit within the Igarassu men’s prison, located in the metropolitan region of Recife (Pernambuco)—established exclusively for the LGBT inmate population. As targets of homophobia, gay men, transsexual women, and *travestis* (transgender women) faced constant instances of torture, violence, and harassment, all exacerbated by the severe overcrowding of the prison system. The Igarassu prison, for instance, was designed to house 460 inmates; today, it holds approximately 3,800.
