Through the story of 12-year-old Bruno, the documentary "A nossa banda" (“Our Band”) chronicles over a century of activity by the Maestro Ângelo Cosentino Musical Corporation — a band founded in 1899 in the city of Leme, in the interior of São Paulo state. A hallmark of 19th-century culture, these town-square bands began to vanish in the second half of the 20th century, struggling to attract new members or find places to perform. While many such groups disappeared, the one in Leme has endured. It continues to cultivate exceptional musicians and influence new generations—a legacy captured in this documentary, which preserves an important piece of the nation’s cultural heritage.
